The challenges and the solutions

Two design patterns were more or less a given as Nets started the design of their new platform, namely CQRS and event sourcing. Axon Framework was helpful in providing much of the architecture needed, and enabled Nets to focus on business logic.

By using event sourcing, Nets can produce an out-of-the-box audit trail, which is essential in many industries, but especially in financial services. This is crucial for compliance and regulatory purposes.

Nets use of CQRS with event tracking processors has already been valuable, despite the system’s short lifespan. New or changed requirements were deployed by which the projections auto-generate without human interaction.

CQRS enables Nets to separate its read and write models. This simplifies its architecture, makes it easier to manage and scale its applications, and optimizes the persistence layer for each individual purpose. It simplifies its event processing and ensures that its applications remain responsive and well performing even under heavy loads.

Axon Server provided another significant advantage to Nets. Its deployment topology is exceptionally flexible and proven invaluable in its changing environment. Nets is able to deploy its applications on premise, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment. This gives Nets the flexibility it needs to adapt to changing business requirements and shifting technology landscapes.
